The
Archival Memoir Project is a visionary project that encourages people of
all ages to claim what is unique about their personal story – and then
share their story with others in a variety of playful and creative ways.
Mary
Alice Long's personal “archival memoir project” includes a written
memoir, performances and collection of images inspired by the birth of
her surrogate son in 1987. A series of dreams and meaningful connections
led her to the realization that her memoir was not meant to be a solo
performance. Instead, she realized she was being called to tend a
play-based, archival memoir project that will help others share their
own personal and collective stories to create meaning and purpose in the
lives of many individuals and communities.
Mary
Alice’s project includes written memoir, images, and performance.
Another project might include film, visual art, and music. Yet another
might include drawings, puppets and poetry. Another, a scientific research
project, dance and coloring books. There are so many ways a life can be

multi-form memoir, as well as a visionary public project that
encourages people of all ages to claim what is unique about

THE PERFORMER AND FACILITATOR:
MARY
ALICE LONG, PHD
Mary
Alice Long, PhD, is a play-based, depth-oriented consultant, writer,
speaker and performer. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology
with an emphasis in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.
She is the founder and creator of Play=Peace.
Professional collaborations include the bi-coastal interview show, “Creativity
in Play” with Steve Dahlberg and the Psyche-Soma Dynamics Program
with Betsy Wetzig. Mary Alice’s “Archival Memoir Project” includes
performances, images and a written memoir, I Would Have Named Him
Peter: Create a Life that Comes from the Heart.
These
programs are presented as part of Mary Alice Long's residency at the International Centre for Creativity and Imagination, in partnership
with the Ridgefield Library, Farmington Continuing Education,
